The Initiative Worldwide Series Requirements

Here at The Initiative, we have one goal: To train the future’s heroes.
There are two types of heroes. Those who were born with their abilities, and those who were given their abilities under less…ethical means. Some are equipped with skills to face foes hand-to-hand. Some are better behind the scenes.
All are necessary.

Minimum word count: 20k (no max)
Cover design will be provided by IPBS (Non-Negotiable)
Cover designs will be branded
Links must be provided for IPBS website and social media
Age group: 18+
New work, not previously published

Participation Fee:

$20 – participation and e-book
$30 – participation, e-book and paperback
$40 – participation, e-book and blog tour
$50 – participation, ebook, paperback and blog tour

AS OF DECEMBER 2021, ALL BLOG TOURS WILL BE HOSTED BY IPBS.

If you need an Editor, IPBS can recommend one to you.

Publishing to begin at a time to be determined at a later date. Deadlines will be extended as needed, based on date of participation onset. No limit to the number of contributions to the series, but only one book per month for authors contributing more than a single work.

Numbers are allowed if only in relation to a continuing publication. IE: Death of John Doe I (The Initiative Worldwide), Death of John Doe II (The Initiative Worldwide).
We ask that the contract be signed within 24-48 hours of joining the group. If you need time for the fee, we are willing to consider requests on an individual basis. Please contact us to discuss options.

You are responsible for publishing your book on time by the 3rd of each month you choose to publish in. You retain all rights and royalties to your book. Our participation contract can be found on the website.

This series has no end date like anthologies do, so you would leave the book up indefinitely. The participation fee covers your entry fee and book cover that will be created by our designated designer.

We will not be asking for part of your royalties or rights, you retain them ALL. Just make sure that you or your publisher has the book up and available on the publishing date, as previously stated. Pre-orders ARE allowed. IF YOU INTEND TO PURCHASE A BLOG TOUR ADD-ON, PRE-ORDER WILL BE REQUIRED (extenuating circumstances will be considered).

Your story must:

feature only one person on the front
categorize as modern speculative fiction (subgenres are welcome)
contain information of the primary organization called The Initiative Worldwide
feature one primary superhero. We have a pre-selected list to choose from. Secondary/supporting characters are allowed. Please try to keep their primary abilities separate from those on the list
be featured on Earth, but your character is NOT required to be human
be linked to all other stories in the series on Amazon. This means you will be required to publish on Amazon, but are not limited to just that platform.

NOTE: ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS MAY BE STATED UPON ACCEPTANCE OF CONTRACT.

MAIN CHARACTER: superhero with one primary power that CANNOT be the same as another author's chosen primary power. Can have up to 2 secondary powers (these can be the same as someone else's)

"Pop-Up" self-help location suggestions:

Old mattress under a bridge with no water
Large city locations: pizza place, jewelry store, movie theater
Abandoned gas station
Secret dead space in an office building
*Pop-ups are very similar to depos, but do not stay in one place and can often be found in case of emergency. These would NOT be hideouts with sleeping options, but rather more of a "store" to find supplies (IE: emergency first aid, burner phones, "spy" paraphernalia, weapons, etc.)
